PARTNERING AN ENGAGEMENT RING WITH THE PERFECT MATCHING WEDDING BAND , WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The first rule to remember when choosing a wedding band is that there are in fact no rules, it simply comes down to style and is purely about personal preference.
There are however some tips you should know about.
Firstly don’t mix metals. We advise using the same metal as your engagement ring. This all comes down to the hardness of the gold. If you have a 9ct engagement ring and an 18ct wedding ring the 18ct ring will over time scratch and wear down the 9ct.
The same goes with Platinum and 18ct Gold. So to avoid scuffing and wear, go with the same metal type. However, don’t confuse this with mixing metal colours. It is totally fine to partner an 18ct White Gold band engagement ring with an 18ct Yellow Gold wedding ring, in fact mixing metal colours is very on-trend.
Gold comes in a variety of colours – rose, yellow, white, and even grey gold, making it easy to mix and match. Taking this approach enables you to pick a bridal stack that’s unique to you.
The spacer band – A spacer band is used to sit between the engagement ring and the wedding band to avoid the rubbing together of the rings when there are diamonds on the band. Because diamonds can scratch and chip each other when they rub against each other over time, we suggest adding a 1mm spacer ring in between the two bands to avoid friction. Another use for a spacer ring is to create a gap between two rings that won’t sit together flush. If you wanted to add a different colour metal into the mix, this is a great way to do it.

Our styles include:
Claw set band – Generally used to house large diamonds. Each stone is secure in its own two claws sitting on either side. Check out our Princess, Emerald, Baguette and Round styles.
Micro Claw Set Band– Available in full ring eternity style or 1/2 or 3/4. The diamonds in this setting are held by little claws that form a basket around the diamond to secure it in place. This is the most common style and generally partnered with an engagement that also has the same diamond band. We suggest matching the diamond size and band thickness to the engagement ring. This style of setting sees the claws carved from the sides of the bands to house the diamond, minimal metal is seen allowing for a finer modern look.
Single Prong Set Band – single prong rings feature diamonds along the band held in place with one single metal prong between them. Often these are terrific for stacking either side of an engagement ring. Most common in the round and oval styles.
Micro Pave Set Band – small diamonds are held in place with tiny metal beads. Because the stones are so closely set together with their almost-prongs, this creates an encrusted or “paved” look, hence the French name of pavé. This creates a beautiful sparkle.
Gypsy Set – For something unique you can partner a plain band engagement ring with a gypsy set wedding band, Gypsy set means the diamonds sit flush within the metal. This is a very secure setting and will certainly stand the test of time. Often Gypsy Set rings are worn as a dress ring. This style will look best with a plain band engagement ring.
Bezel Set Wedding Band – Bezel settings are a good option for someone who is hard wearing on their jewellery. The bezel envelopes the diamond protecting all sides with a thin metal rim.
